WIT Sports named Best Employer in Sports in 2023.

2023 WIT Team Summit: Day 2

December 18, 2023

The WIT team recently concluded the company’s first-ever in-person summit, bringing 21 of the company’s 23 full-time employees together in Orlando from Dec. 5-8. We are chronicling all of the fun activities and new connections made with a series of posts on each day. Read more about Day 1 here.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

Wednesday morning arrived bright and early for the WIT team, especially those who suffered an unspeakable demise in the group game of “Mafia” the night before.

Finally the WIT team, a group that had grown over 3x in less than a year, could get down to business together in the same room, starting with talks on personal and company history. Personal presentations ran the gamut from pictures and stories of travel adventures to sports allegiances and fascinating hobbies. From novelists to venture capitalists to martial arts phenoms to reality TV stars to musicians and former athletes, the diversity of talent on the WIT team blew everyone away!

Vaidhy led a session on the history of WIT’s transformation and growth as a company, after which Stephi set the stage for group discussions around the company’s current culture and how it can continue to evolve in 2024.

WIT has come a long way since 2018

There were emotional moments in the room as WIT veterans looked around at a team of 20+ outstanding individuals and fully realized how far the company has come in the last five years. The culture of support, authenticity, and true joy was certainly felt in the room and continues to be reflected in the comments from partners every day. Real recognize real!

Lunch brought the group to a sunny nearby park for al fresco dining with Florida’s famous Pub Subs. Our resident disc-golf aficionado was discless, but we played card games and found a ball for some impromptu 2-on-2 football out on the green. Incredibly, the huge sandwiches barely slowed them down!

Picnic in the Park
Editor’s note: It was a small dodgeball and not a football, so any and all poor throws or catches are to be blamed on conditions and not the players themselves.

Then it was time for afternoon activities at The Keg Social… The whole group started with bowling, where Nolan took the crown for high score and a number of surprising performances landed in the triple digits. Then the group split up to do karaoke in a private room and play pool nearby.

Karaoke got going right from the jump with a rousing rendition of Noah Kahan by Will hyping up the crowd. Stephi followed it up with “That Thing You Do!” and we were off to the races! Jess and Cali brought it with Eminem, Xin and Vaidhy did a little B.o.B., Holly and Ashley S. sang a flawless Taylor Swift, and Ryan kept it Nashville centric with “Dixieland Delight.” We threw it back to the 90s when Zach did some Alanis, and then Will and Holden got us all singin’ with the Backstreet Boys. Alright!

Everyone was having fun

The jam-packed day ended with department dinner outings to get some quality time in smaller groups. The service, sales, and product/engineering teams ventured out into Orlando, enjoying good meals, festive drinks, and some spicy trivia. What a day!
